The word c2merse rhymes with "immerse" because immersion is the point. A c2merse is Code2Motion's native experience format: a packaged interactive work built with code and designed to be played, not just viewed.
Inside the Code2Motion universe, a c2merse is the thing Explonaunts discover in the PlayRoom and Comoders publish from ToyMaker. It can feel your touch, hear the room, react to motion, and turn context into part of the art.
"A c2merse is the thing you can't quite describe to your friends but immediately want to show them."
01 How it's different from everything else
| Experience type | Interactive? | Reactive to sensors? | Lives everywhere? | Made by AI? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube video | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ | ✗ |
| Mobile game | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ (App store) | ✗ |
| Website | ✓ (sort of) | ✗ | ✓ | ✗ |
| Generative art | ✓ | ✗ (usually) | ✗ (hard to share) | ✗ |
| c2merse | ✓ | ✓ (built in) | ✓ (PWA) | ✓ (Sidecar) |
02 The .c2m file — what's inside
Under the hood, every c2merse is a .c2m file — a neat package that contains everything needed to run the experience anywhere.
- manifest.json title, author, InteractStyle, version
- index.html the entry point — runs in any browser
- preview.webm looping preview for the swipe feed
- src/ the experience source code
- assets/ audio, textures, images
- sidecar.json which AI built this, what prompts were used
Because it's a PWA (Progressive Web App), a c2merse can be installed on your home screen, run offline, and load instantly — like a native app, without the app store.
03 InteractStyles — how a c2merse knows what to do
Every c2merse declares an InteractStyle — a tag that tells the platform (and you) how this experience is meant to be felt. Some examples:
A c2merse tagged Audio-Reactive listens to your microphone and morphs in response to sound. One tagged Gyro-Reactive tracks the tilt of your phone. The InteractStyle is what makes each c2merse feel tailored to the moment.
04 What does "c2mersing" feel like?
In Code2Motion, the act of experiencing a c2merse is called c2mersing. You don't "play" a c2merse or "watch" it — you c2merse in it.
In the PlayRoom, you swipe through a feed. Each card shows a looping preview. Swipe right to save. Swipe up to enter — and suddenly the whole screen is the experience. You're inside it. That's c2mersing.
Some c2merses are meditative — a slow bloom of fractals that responds to deep breaths. Some are frenetic — a particle storm that explodes when you tap. Some are strange and beautiful in ways that are hard to describe. That's the point.
